Greg & the entire Mc P's Staff would
like to thank everyone for the overwhelming outpouring of support & love for Scotty
since his passing. The SRO crowd at the memorial service & the St Patty's size crowd
at the pub after it were a true testimate to the wide reach of Scotty's influence.
He wants to remind you that eventhough Scotty's physical presence is no longer here, his
spirit lives on at the Pub, so don't hesitate to come back & raise a pint to
him. And there have been some mysterious breakdowns the week after his passing
that would indicate that there is a mischievous spirit inhabiting the Pub now.
Memorial services & a celebration of his life were held
on Thursday, 03 May 07 Scotty had a special place at Mc P's & for those who weren't
able to attend the services, please use our Guestbook
to express your thoughts. My old dear friend scotty, I just heard of your passing away to far and better
places. You always made me feel so welcome every time I stop by . I will someday join you
and have a few more laughs Scotty, AAIIEE!! Scotty, Hey Scotty, Dad, I only met Scotty once, a few years back while on a business trip to
SLT...Scotty was one of the main reasons I came back and brought clients with me. Great
Establishment with Great Folks. We'll meet again one day my friend. Much Love... SCOTTY, After ten years I finally get back to San Diego and was looking so much to
having a reuben, whisky and coke, and chatting with Scotty while watching one of the
European soccer matches with him. I had only been back at the base for a week when I
heard the sad news. Now, just two days short of being a month since Scotty's
memorial, I finally had that reuben. I will dearly miss you. I was so looking
forward to the upcoming woman's world cup and again chatting with Scotty about the USA
team and his beloved Glasgow RANGERS. I know you're up there smiling on us all! Scotty: We are back in Scotland now after a sad journey. We are so glad we came in
March to Coronado to see Gordon and spend some time with him. Gordon would have been so
proud to know that he was loved by so many people, and it is also a great comfort to us. Scotty, or as i called you 007, Scotty, I miss you. It was such a shock to hear what had happened. Good Friendship Thanks Scotty for being a friend. You will be missed but not forgotten.
Blue Skies and Good Chutes my friend We didn't know Scotty very well, and we would like to have known him better. He
married us 5 years ago on May 4, 2002. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
Save two bar stools for us up there we'll be along eventually. To our Grampa..... There's one more angel in heaven, there's one more star in
the sky, It's hard but we'll get by. There's one more tear in my eye, But Grampa,
the things that you stood for like love and peace, will never die. You're gone but
will never be forgotten. Always with us We Love You Grampa Gordon. xxxxx I salute myself to an honorable man, an idol, a role model, a mediator, a
friend, a man who's charm and candor could always warm ones soul, who's attitude always
remained positive and a personality that never faded. A man blessed with a gorgeous
heart and will always remain in mine. RIP to a dear freind. It is astonishing to read through all the comments on this page and see what
people thought of my Granda. I am really proud to have been related to someone with such
great qualities and such a posetive outlook on life. He was really happy living in
Coronado and my only wish is that i could have known him more and witnessed many of his
good qualities first hand. My granda was one of the most intelligent people i ever
knew. I would like to thank Greg and the McP's staff for being there for my family
in the last few months. Scotty~ you were and always will be my favorite! I'm gonna miss you! It's not
going to be the same without you, I enjoyed seing you behind that bar and wondering what
goodies you had in the locked cabinet that day. Even though I didn't always understand you
and you got frustrated with me for that (sorry)- I'd still get you ice anyday. You'll
always be in my thoughts & prayers. I love you! Jess:) Sorry to hear about the sad demise of Scotty (Gorden) I visited your shores with Scottys brother Gerry, a few years ago.Scotty was a real gent,a fact which is evident by the high regard everybody had for him,I think he had found his perfect place to live and work, in fact he said as much when we were there.I would like to personally thank you for looking after him and giving him dignity in his last days on earth.Regards to all at McPs. David Morris Scotty was one of life's true gentlemen, forever warm-friendly and welcoming to
all. We have a saying in Ireland which Scottys passing brings new depth to.
"Ní heaspa go díth cara", roughly translates to "There is no
absence like the absence of a friend ". You are missed Scotty. I'm sure the good lord
will overlook you being a Rangers fan! Slán tamaill. (Goodbye for now) Your friend. Gordon touched the lives of so many and this was demonstrated by the standing
room only at his funeral yesterday. He will be sadly missed but he'll never be forgotten. There are good ships, SCOTTY, THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT WILL GO BY IN WHICH I WILL REMEMBER, THE
NEWSPAPERS THAT WE SHARED, THE BOOKS THAT WERE READ, AND THE DRINKS THAT WERE POURED-----
YOU WILL BE MISSED AND REMEMBERED, TAKE CARE OLD FRIEND "Aye & bye, Laddie" Scottie Scotty, To Scotty! Uncle Gordon, you will be sadly missed. But my mum told me you have the
Guardian Angel that I sent you in your pocket. My heart goes out to Fiona, Derek,
Sandra (my mum), Moira who are all in Coronado at the moment. Just try to be strong
today. He will now be with my gran. Take Care XX I love You XX We came to visit you tonight, you were the most quiet we have ever heard! We
will see you at Heavens "19th Hole" You can pour us a couple shots of Jameson's.
Until then, Sweet Dreams Our Friend. We Love You! My dear Scotty, For 20 years - I remember a man who was always there. Through good and bad.
Through the laughs and the tears. A source of strength. A rock like I will never know
again. I will always hear your words. Take care my friend - and please, on Thursday
nights, may you and Tony unite, drink a Guiness, smile down upon us, and know how
fortunate we all are to have known you. And loved you. You two take care of us who are
left to miss you. Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be, a resting place along
the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different paths along the
way, we are all meant to learn somethings, but never meant to stay...Our desination is a
place far greater than we know, for some the journey's quicker, for some the journey's
slow. Scotty, Scotty, Scotty...you never forgot a face, a name, what we drank etc. We
certainly will never forget you. Although I haven't seen you in some time, I will
definitely see you on the "other" side. Rest in Peace. Please extend our sympathy to Scotty's family, who have come from Scottland,
and to his local extended family. Scotty was dear to us all. I loved to find him reading,
as he did constantly, throughout Coronado. He lent Coronado a special flavor, which will
be sorely missed. Greg, Scotty, It's been a long time. I sure will miss your friendly smile and
always greeting everyone you would see. You will be missed. A one of a kind.
Rest now and we will all be coming to you in the future..
From my husband Zach and I , we send our deepest regrets to Scotties Friends
& Family. He was a special guy who was dear to both of us. I met Scottie when I worked
at McP's in Tahoe and always looked forward to his smiling face everytime he came up. And
enjoyed hangin at the bar stool next to him. He married Zach and I back in 2002 and became
part of our family. We will miss him dearly and feel blessed to have him be a part of our
lives. It's not the years in the life, but the life in the years that count, and
Scotty was full of life and it was contagious. He never forgot a name, face, or your
beer mug number. You could depart for 6 months and it was like 5 minutes for Scotty.
He was Naval Special Warfare's greatest fan and advocate. You could always
find him at retirements, reunions, graduations, Chief pinnings, Changes of Command,
funerals, etc. He cared deeply about his military friends and we cared back.
Truly one of the rare few that could impact so many. Cheers my friend! Hey Scotty, We had a lot of fun working side by side, my friend. We had
some good times. Thank you for taking care of all the little ones when they came in.
It put a smile on your face and theirs when you would grab the keys and open that
magic cupboard and there would be bags of treats for them to choose from. And the
hugs they would give you and you give back. They will all miss that.
Make sure you say fore when you're playing a round of golf, before the ball hits someone
this time, hah, hah! To My Dear friend Scotty... I thank Kelly for giving me the oppoortunity to
speak to you a few weeks ago. It was a joy for me to hear your voice. Even
though I have been gone for a long time, my memories of my time in Coronado are made all
the sweeter because of Mc Ps and the dear friends that I made there. You are loved.
Rest in peace my friend. Thanks Scotty for all you gave so many. My son remembers the "don't
tell dad this one" and you better move your ass tell him this event at school.
He will always remember you. You made it always special when my daughter
visited. She recalls all the great St Paddy's days! Remember the Marine Corps
Birthday ball with you and Greg being our special guests at the Del. To the great
memories, the many troops you advised and helped along their path in life, to your humor,
cheerful spirit, we all salute you from every corner of the earth! God Bless you for
all you have given us. Semper Fi Scotty! Scotty; Don't wait up for me, I'll be taking my time, but I will bring a good
book with me. Love you Scotty! I am really going to miss you Scotty with all of my heart! I always
loved seeing you and you always seemed to put a huge smile on my face!!!!! Only met the man once at Chief Hunters retirement party. He took great
care of us and made us feel very welcome and at home. A great loss. The passing of an amazing man, Thanks for taking care of all of us...God Bless
! We'll miss you Scottie. Our greatest sympathies go to your friends and family.
With Love, Stew & Robin , Boeblingen, Germany I guess all that noise from next door was the building of the new
bar. I heard recently that they were expanding and needed the best they could find to man
the place. Well with Scotty they found it. Anyone who knows me knows how much he meant to
me, and if you dont, it doesnt mater cause I know he did. I was blessed to
speak to him a few times in the last few weeks, and only wish life would have allowed us
one last closing time together. Hoo Yah Scotty, thanks for taking such good care of our Frogmen and their
families over the years. I'll miss you Scotty. Jesus will be switching from wine to martinis now
that you are there. Thank you for always making me smile. Good Night Scotty Dear sweet Scotty, there is no one like you. You could always be counted on for
a big hug, a good laugh and a sage piece of advice. Thank you for always making me feel
special, for loving a taking such great care of my family and for being my friend. You
will be greatly missed. I love you... Tiffany Scotty was one of a kind and can never be replaced. Visits will not be
same. It was a pleasure knowing him. When I was called and told of Scottys passing both me and my wife were
greatly saddened. Whenever we found ourselves on the west coast we would come to Coronado,
see Scotty and immediately feel at home. Whether we would be having a cigar and a glass of
Macallan at McPs , or going out to dinner at one of the local restaurants, Scotty
would always provide great insight and conversation. The last time I spoke with Scotty he
told me how he was blessed to live in paradise and be surrounded by so many people who
cared about him. I can only hope that he realized how truly blessed we are to have known
him. Scotty was the renaissance man of Coronado, I am proud to have been able to call him
my friend. Scotty you are loved and missed, rest in peace. Scotty, You have been my dearest friend for 15 years. I miss you and I love
you. The void your absence leaves behind will never be filled. Rest in peace. Scotty was one of the most sincere and compassionate guys I have ever known.
He was always satisfied with very little for himself but he gave so much to
others. A fine Cuban cigar, a nice brew, a good book and stimulating conversation
with friends and he was happy. One always felt good when around him
and there is no better legacy than that. He certainly charmed my wife, Lissa, and I
am sure that they are now sharing laughs next door. Scotty was a true
gentleman, and we are all enriched through knowing him. If only more people in this
world were like him. Here's to you Scotty in heaven. We didn't realize that January was going to be
the last time we saw you. Love Duke & Darnell Scotty will be missed by all. He was a great friend. He watched me
grow up. From the time I was a college kid just legal to drink, through my 13 years
in the Navy and now 8 years working for American Airlines, Scotty continually showed
interest in what I was doing. He became a great friend to me and eventually my wife
and children. He will be missed. A toast will be given here in Chicago,
Illinois for a true gentleman. I look forward to seeing everyone of the McP's family
in July where the Eilertsen Family will Laugh, Make Jokes, Have fun, Not Grieve and
remember the good times. All is definitely Well! Scotty will be missed,"HOOYA SCOTTY" a few of us will be having a few
Guniness's in his honor Thursday here in Panama City Beach,Florida Scotty was the most positive person I knew. He loved life! He
expressed to me many times how blessed he was to be living the life he did, with so many
dear friends around. In his day, he loved a good book, a tasty cigar and a fine
drink! And we loved him! My Dear Uncle, It saddens my heart, but I know that there are a lot of people in this world
who are better off for meeting him. I knew him as a brother and a dear friend. Scotty
always knew when I was coming back into town... ever since I was a Midshipman back in
1987. He always found time to talk about the meaningful things in life. Peace to all on
this sad day. I raise a glass to Scotty. Worked at McP's with Scotty in the summer of 93. I was young and broke,
struggling to pay my rent and bills. Scotty knew I didn't have a T.V. and gave
me his. He was always generous to his friends. Danny and I met shortly after
and were regulars with our mugs. When we reminisce of the good times with old
friends in Coronado we always think about McP's & Scotty Greg,Ted,Tom,Frank,Dwight,Doc,Jack and the rest of McP crew... we all lost a
good friend. Scotty will remain in our fond memories of ballgames, travel, and the many
times I have visited with him. His zeal for life was only exceeded by his quest to gain
more knowledge and insight of the world and the countless people whose paths crossed with
his. Thnking of you all at this sad time. We loved Scotty very much and will miss
him greatly. He has been part of our lives separately and together for a very long time.
We were grateful to be able to talk to him last Monday in the hospital and tell him we
loved him. We know he is in a better place reading a good book. Love to all Roma and
Damian This is a sad day for us all, Scotty you are already missed and I do hope that
you rest is peace. Lee Saddened today as one of the truely great ones has gone to a better place. We
will hoist a pint or two tonight and see you off on Thursday. There is plenty of Guiness
in heaven tonight and we are sure there are some good books and cigars. And also plenty of
story telling.We love you Scotty,GOD BLESS... |
