Holly Murten and I moved away from Coronado in 1991, but between our arrival in late 1982 and our departure, Scotty was a regular feature our lives -- mine at McP's, Holly's at the library.  She still tells the story of the time she came to open the library and found Scotty waiting impatiently at the entrance.  "Where's me book?" he challenges.  "I need me book."  We missed him for a long time, and now it looks like we'll always have to miss him, since now we can't show up and have a beer with him.   Great painting of him, Greg!  We're in DC this year, here from Berlin and on our way to Buenos Aires at the end of the year, so hopefully we can fit a Coronado trip in there.  See you.

I just wanted to drop a quick line and say what a great Pub you have.  I was out there for a convention at the Hotel Del, but sat in the Pub pretty much every day.    The Pub has character and history and I really enjoyed myself.  I hope to make it out that way again some day, and you bet I'll stop in and raise a glass.  Mark

Mr.Mc Partlin,
I'm here in Port Hueneme,CA and will try and come for a beer before Thanksgiving. I leave for Iraq after the first of the year with my Seabee Batt. Hopefully I can toss some scuttlebutt around with some brothers while there. My brother was stationed there back in the late 80's or early'90's as an E.T./Reg. Navy. I think he was going thru more training there and at mare Island too! I'd like to shake the hands of our brothers if possible and thank them for what they do!

Mr. Mc Partlin, glad to see the pub is still going strong.  After returning from cruise on the USS Ranger CV-61 in Oct 1982 I found my newest favorite hangout and nearly 25 years later...whenever my travels take me to San Diego; your place is still my favorite hangout.  Now my entire family insists on a meal in your fine Pub whenever we are in town.  Thanks so much for everything you do for our military.    God Bless America.

I lived in San Diego ( Imperial Beach) to be exact.. from 1984-1988, and have kept utmost wonderful memories of my time, my life over there! My ex husband was in Seal Team 3 in Coronado! I enjoyed those long walks at the beach by the Amphibian base, Coronado Shores... Remember too well those fun evenings at McP's Pub in Coronado among the guys as well as that Mexican Village restaurant that was located at the end of Orange Street!   WOW, wild days, fun days! I plan on coming back some day... !! Nadine ;-)

Wow!  The BLT was better than I expected!  I dove into the fish 'n' chips, too.  Delicious!  More importantly, the United Warrior Survivor Foundation event was absolutely incredible.  I was able to offer condolences to some of the widows, talk with a few SEALs, and bought drinks for a couple of the Marines.  It was one of those days you didn't want to end.  Thanks to McP's for sponsoring such a worthy cause, and thanks for the great food.  See ya soon.

I just discovered McP's while reading "One Perfect Op : Navy SEAL Special Warfare Teams" by Dennis Chalker, and now I can't wait to drive down and grab a BLT and cold beer!  The only reason any of us are able to lead the lives we do is because of the bravery and sacrifice of our sailors, soldiers, airmen and Marines. It's nice to know there is a place close to home built upon these undeniable truths.
See you Sunday for lunch!

Hello, I am from ND and was a visitor of Coronado Island and Mc P's Irish Pub.  I really enjoyed my time spent there.  We had an excellent lunch (I had the fish tacos) and we also went back to spend a night out on the town at your establishment.  I even had to buy some T-shirts to bring back for myself and family members.  I just wanted to thank you for the time we spent at your bar.   It was a great time and I would love to come back again.

Greg,
We have met, I am a friend of Fred's. He always said I was his second most favorite squid. We met at his wedding to Ginger, and then I am sorry, but later.  I heard you had some problems, I hope all is better. Please take care and God Bless.

I didn't come to Coronado for the sun, but I found Mc P's.
Looking forward to visiting Coronado again! I didn't make it into the Pub last time out, but I won't miss it next time. Firefighting is a great life, but it's second place next to the frogman lifestyle. And we all know second place is the first loser. Keep up the good work, see y'all soon, and a big HOO-YAH to you from K.C., where it's just another running day!

In 1982 I was working for San Diego Rest Supply.  I met Greg and sold him several items for a new pub he was opening on Coronado.  He didn't like the fact that he was COD at the time, but he was a tough negotiator and we extended some terms.  I left San Diego in 1982 to return to Chicago and run a family business.  In March 2004 I will be returning to Coronado with my family.   Been 21+ years since I have been there.  I'm looking forward to seeing and showing all the sights.  We are staying at the Del for 2 weeks 3/13 thru 3/26.  If I remember correctly, I think it's possible to have a few and walk back to the Del....See you soon.  Brian

My father, BM1 Edward J. Carroll (Guinni or Diego), used to be a bartender when it was th Manhattan Room, some years ago.  He served on UDT 3 and 12 in WWII and Korea, and I believe early era of Vietnam.  I've been to McP's a numerous amount of times, and can still feel that special bond of brotherhood with the teams.  Keep up the good work.

Hi there,
Have been to Coronado several times over the past few years and had the pleasure of meeting Mr McPartlin and chatting with him for quite some time. I have the highest respect for him and all the men and women who serve and have served this great nation! Hope to be at McP's again soon as your place is amazing and so very interesting from a military history point of view. :-)
You all take care and God bless you.
Mike

I wish there was an annex on the East coast (preferably in Boston area). Great food & great atmosphere. My only problem is my polo shirt I bought is a little worn and a little littler. Tried calling tonight for a new one, but the noise was above conversation level. It brings back the the days of good food & good atmosphere (& memories). Wish I was there, but in place will order a couple of new shirts & put on my list a visit to the pub next time on the San Diego area.
